Intelligent building protects the shoreline.
The project “Protection and rehabilitation of the southern area of the Romanian Black Sea coast in the area of Constanta – Mamaia South” consisted of the sustainable erosion protection and beach nourishment of the Black Sea shoreline, in one of the most beautiful areas of the Romanian Black Sea shoreline – Mamaia South.
Our scope of works consisted in the design and rehabilitation of the 1.2km long beach area. Together with partners, the existing breakwaters were consolidated and new groynes and connection structures were installed.
The highlight was the enlargement of the beach by beach nourishment. The sand for this replenishment was dredged from a spot 10km off the coast, at a depth of 30m.
Even during the construction time, the public beach was open for festival season.
