Refined railway rehabilitation.
The rail construction project JV Petrobrazi Industrial Platform covered the rehabilitation of the railway tracks within the Petrobrazi refinery near the city of Ploiesti.
The refinery had been built in the 1930s and the railway network installed there needed urgent renovation. PORR was in charge of modernising the industrial railway tracks, including water drainage.
A special challenge was the execution of works without interrupting any activity of the refinery. After three years and a railway rehabilitation of a total of 55km, the contract was successfully completed.
OMV’s Petrobrazi refinery, located in Ploiesti, is one of Romania’s largest refineries and also one of the largest in Eastern Europe.

Apart from its pipeline connections, the 55km railway tracks are the refinery’s most important transport infrastructure.
